I was born and raised in Eden, New York. |
Growing up in a suburb of Buffalo, small town life is what I was exposed to throughout my childhood. I grew up, went through Eden Central Schools and enrolled at the University at Buffalo. From there, I graduated with a double major in Communication and History. To further my education, I decided to go to graduate school (still at the University at Buffalo) and pursue my masters degree in Social Studies Education.
As for my personal interests, I am a sports "junkie." Football and basketball are my passions. Buffalo Bills fan for life. I am a hunter, and love the outdoors.

Teaching philosophy
|
I believe in a student centered curriculum. Meaning, students determine where the curriculum goes. It is an inquiry based idea. Let students be in control of what they are learning (to a point) and the results will amaze you. As a teacher, you are merely a guide on a student's pathway to higher knowledge. If you do your job well, student motivation will never be an issue. Getting to know your students on a personal level is critical to the trust/bond a teacher and student have.

My goals
|
I want to get my students not only to where they need to be to achieve academic success, but to where they want to be to achieve life success. Academics are merely a stepping stone in a person's life, somewhere they learn how to be a good adult and contribute to society in a meaningful way. The number one goal of any educator should be creating a fantastic group of adults with your guidance.
